10K and 5K We Run Rome Rules
December 31st, 2023 - 12th Edition

On Sunday 31 December 2023, Atleticom ASD will organise the 12th edition of the We Run Rome, a non -competitive and competitive running event over the distances of 10 and 5km. The event is being held under the aegis of FIDAL and it is also included in the national calendar and awarded with the FIDAL Silver Label.
It benefits from the patronage of the Italian Olympic Committee (CONI), the City of Rome and the Lazio Region.

By registering to the race, the athlete declares that he has read and she/he fully accepts these regulations

The competition regulations may be subject to change following the dispositions given by the competent institutions; we therefore invite all participants to consult them and keep up to date.
Any changes will be duly communicated to registered athletes via the event website www.werunrome.com or via the official Facebook page.

1 – Meeting point

The meeting point is set for Sunday 31 December 2023 at 10:00 a.m. at the Terme di Caracalla Stadium 'Nando Martellini' in Rome. The start of the competitive and non-competitive 10 km race will be given in Via delle Terme di Caracalla at 14:00. The 5 km non-competitive race will start a few minutes later.

2 - Participation Requirements 10 and 5Km Non-Competitive

The recreational-motor event includes two non-competitive events over distances of 10 km and 5 km respectively.

For the 10 km race, all those who will have reached their 14th birthday by 31 December 2023 may register.  For the 5 km non-competitive race there are no age limits; children up to the age of 13 must be accompanied by a parent/legal guardian.

Registration for the event implies the tacit declaration of self-certification of physical fitness for the practice of "non-competitive" sporting activity in accordance with the relevant regulations in force and therefore exempts the organisers from requesting such a medical certificate. The participant relieves the Organising Committee and its partners of all responsibility regarding his or her physical fitness to take part in the event and of all liability, both civil and criminal, for damage to persons and/or property caused by him or her or resulting from his or her participation in the race. He also declares that he grants his/her authorisation to use any of his photographs relating to his/her participation in the event for any legitimate use without remuneration.

For the 10 km non-competitive race there will be no ranking: athletes may wear the chip for timekeeping but will be listed in alphabetical order. 

For the 5 km non-competitive race there is no time-keeping.

3 - 10K Competitive Participation Requirements

Athletes registered in Italy

In accordance with the "Rules for the organisation of events" issued by the FIDAL, the competitive event is open to Italian and foreigner athletes who have completed their 16 years of age or older (thousandth of age) on the date of the event, having the following requirements:

1. Athletes registered in 2023 with FIDAL affiliated clubs who have reached the age of 16;

2. Athletes registered with a Sports Promotion Body (Athletics section), recognised by CONI and in possession of a Runcard EPS - www.runcard.com (valid as sports insurance and authorisation to compete), limited to athletes who have reached the age of 20 (thousandth of age); the participation is however subject to:

A valid medical certificate of specific agonistic fitness for athletics, which must be presented to the organisers in the original and kept, as a copy, on file at the organising company of each event. Foreigners who are non-residents may be issued with a medical certificate in their own country, but the same examinations required by Italian law must have been carried out: a) medical examination; b) complete urine test; c) electrocardiogram at rest and after effort; d) spirography.

3. Athletes in possession of a FIDAL Runcard - www.runcard.com (valid as sports insurance and permission to compete), limited to athletes who have reached 20 years of age (one thousandth of age), whose participation is however subject to:

A valid medical certificate of specific agonistic fitness for athletics, which must be presented to the organisers in the original and kept, in copy, on file at the organising company of each event. Foreigners who are non-residents may be issued with a medical certificate in their own country, but the same examinations required by Italian law must have been carried out: a) medical examination; b) complete urine test; c) electrocardiogram at rest and after effort; d) spirography.

In accordance with FIDAL regulations, participation in the competitive race is not permitted with only a competitive medical certificate.

Athletes registered abroad

Italian athletes registered abroad, who have reached the age of 16 years (thousandths of an age) on the date of the event, may participate with the following requirements:

Athletes in possession of a FIDAL Runcard - www.runcard.com (valid as sports insurance and authorisation to compete), limited to athletes who have reached 20 years or over (thousandths of age), combined with a valid medical certificate of competitive fitness specific to the practice of athletics, which must be uploaded at the time of registration. Participation is however subject to:

3. Athletes registered with clubs affiliated to Foreign Athletics Federations should upload a self-certification document at the time of registration proving of their membership to the club (the appropriate form can be requested by emailing This email address is being protected from spambots. 4 - Registration

Online registrations may be completed on the website: www.werunrome.com until the 29th of December.  Should there be any bibs available, it will be possible to register in person on bib collection days and on the day of the event itself. 

The event is both competitive and non-competitive.

REGISTRATION FEES

10 km Non-Competitive

- € 17.00 until 30th June;

- € 25.00 from 1st July to 14th December;

- € 28.00 from 15th to 29th December.

Athletes under 16 (with parental declaration) and over 65

- € 17.00 until 30th June;

- € 20.00 from 1st July to 29th December.

5 km Memorial 'Antonio Maglio' (non-competitive), for all ages

- € 15.00 until 15th September;

- € 18 from 1st October to 29th December.

10 Km Competitive (until all 3,500 bibs are used up)

- € 17.00 until 30th June;

- € 22.00 from 1st July to 30th September;

- € 25.00 from 1st October to 14th December;

- € 28.00 from 15th to 29th December.

PARTICIPATION OF ATHLETES WITH DISABILITIES

  • The event is also open to athletes with disabilities, who can participate free of charge using either a Joelette or a handcycle. Please contact the administrative office at the above e-mail address and telephone number.

Age of participation in the three types of competition

10 K Non-competitive

Participants from 14 years of age (born in 2009)

5 K Non Competitive

Participation open to everyone without age limit

10 K Competitive

Participants from the age of 16 years (born in 2007) with FIDAL membership or RUNCARD FIDAL/EPS. 

 

4.1 - Modification of entries

Changes to your registration from Non-Competitive to Competitive will be possible at no charge until Friday, 1st of December. From the 2nd to 20th of December, a secretarial fee of € 3.00 will be charged for each registration amendment.

No changes will be possible from 21st of December to the day of the event.

5 - Participation fee

The registration fee, for all athletes in the competitive and non-competitive events (5 and 10 km) includes:

  • race bib;
  • RTC insurance;
  • medical and technical assistance;
  • official event T-shirt (subject to availability);
  • refreshments along the route and at the finish line;
  • timing service (only for 10 km);
  • bag deposit service;
  • any products and/or opportunities offered by sponsors;
  • medal for all finishers (subject to availability);

6 - Registration and Payment

Registration can be done online at www.werunrome.com.

Payment can be made in one of the following ways:

  • electronic payment via: Credit Card, Prepaid Cards and Paypal;
  • in cash and by reservation at the Atleticom offices in via dei Colli della Farnesina 116, 00135 - Rome;
  • bank transfer addressed to Atleticom ASD - IBAN IT10U087873922000040795 - Banca di Credito Cooperativo di Riano scrl - reason for payment: Atleticom We Run Rome XII registration (and name).
  • At the official registration points which will be communicated by the Organising Committee.

It is also possible to make cumulative bank transfers for several athletes, in which case the names of all those to whom the payment is affiliated must be indicated in the reason for payment. Registration will only be effective upon receipt of the bank transfer.

7 - Refund of Participation Fees and Transfer

Registration fees are not refundable under any circumstances. If a registered athlete is unable to take part, he may transfer the entry to another athlete by communicating all the necessary contact details and documents of the substitute to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. by 1st December, or postpone the entry to the following year.

7.1 Transferring an entry to another Athlete

The transfer of an entry for those who have already completed their registration will be free of charge until 1st December, but from 5th to 23rd December a secretarial fee of €5.00 must be paid for each transfer.

It will not be possible to transfer registrations from 24th December to the day of the event.

7.2 Transfer to 2024

It is possible to postpone your registration to 2024 until 22nd December, upon payment of € 5.00 for secretariat fees. After this date, it is no longer possible to postpone your registration, but you will still receive your race kit.

Registrants who had already postponed their registration in 2022 will not be able to postpone it further, but they will still receive their race kit.

8 - Clubs registrations

For Clubs with fewer than 10 participants, it will be mandatory to register directly online at www.werunrome.com.

9 - Clubs payment

The registration manager of the Club with more than 10 participants must send an email to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it. enclosing a single payment for all the athletes of the same club. He/she must send the list of athletes in excel format for whom he/she has made the payment together with the payment slip.

10 - Bib and race packet collection

All information regarding the location, days and times of pick-up will be communicated later on the website www.werunrome.com and on the event's social channels.

Only and exclusively non-residents in Rome and foreign participants will have the additional possibility of collection on Sunday 31st December from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Stadium of Terme di Caracalla. Collection by proxy will be possible, in which case the delegate must be in possession of all the participant's documentation.

11 – Bib’s and race pack pick-up

For running clubs, all information regarding the location, days and times of pick-up will be communicated later on the website www.werunrome.com and on the event's social channels. Each club that has sent in its own entry list must indicate its own contact person who will collect the bibs and race packs for the entire team. The bib and race pack cannot be collected individually by athletes belonging to clubs that have registered cumulatively.

It will be possible on the day of the event, at the Terme di Caracalla Stadium, to collect one's own bib and race pack only for companies’ resident outside the province of Rome from 10.00 a.m. to 1.00 p.m.

12 - Bib number

The race bib is strictly personal, it cannot be tampered with and it is not transferable to anyone, as it is specifically associated with the athlete registered for the event. Bib numbers will be assigned at the sole discretion of the Organising Committee, only to athletes whose registration is complete with payment of the fee. Once a bib number has been assigned, it will not be possible to change it.

13 - Criteria for Assigning Bib Numbers

Bib numbers will be assigned at the sole discretion of the Organising Committee.

Athletes with certified official times on the 10 km or who have achieved such times during the past three editions of Atleticom We Run Rome (2019-2022), and with personal best times of less than 40' (men) and 45' (women), who will indicate so when registering by 3rd December, will be reserved a bib number corresponding to the first starting grid (non-elite), exclusively for the first 200 men and 100 women.

The bibs dedicated to the first (non-elite) grid will be subject to availability.

Top athletes or their companies, must apply for a bib number for entry to the top runner grid at the time of registration. For the allocation of the bib numbers in the first grid (non-elite), the Organising Committee will carry out the relevant checks, therefore, if there is no effective feedback on the declared times, no numbers will be allocated in the first grid. 

Top Athletes are women and men in possession of bib numbers 1 to 50.

14 - Composition of Starting Grids

The composition of the starting grids is as follows:

  • Top Athletes;
  • Competitive Athletes with personal bests under 40' (men) and 45' (women);
  • Competitive Athletes with personal bests over 40' (men) and 45' (women);
  • Athletes 10 km Non-Competitive;
  • Athletes 5 km Non-Competitive.

The allocation of bibs for the competitive race will be at the sole discretion of the Organising Committee.

15 - Race Start

The start of the competitive and non-competitive 10 km race will be concomitant, given in Via delle Terme di Caracalla at 14:00. The 5 km race will start a few minutes later. The maximum time to complete the race is 120', after which time there will be no further blocking of traffic.

16 - Elite Athletes

Athletes in the race considered elite by the organisation, will be identified by the colour of their bib. The first 50 bibs will be reserved for the elite bracket.

17 - Individual prizes

Prizes will be awarded to the first three men and the first three women to reach the finish line in the competitive race. In addition, in the competitive race, prizes will be awarded to the first 3 finishers in each FIDAL category. Excluded from the category awards are the first 3 men and the first 3 women in the overall classification and athletes holding bib numbers 1 to 50. 

When determining the final classification, the Gun Time (the kick-off shot), will be taken into account.
No prizes will be awarded for the non-competitive races.

18 – Award Ceremony

The Award Ceremony will be held at the end of the race, inside the Stadium of the Terme of Caracalla. The first 3 men and the first 3 women to reach the finish line of the competitive race will be the winners. There will be no category prize-giving; the relevant discount codes will be sent directly at the opening of the registration to the e-mail addresses of the winners.

No awards will be given for the non-competitive races.

19 – Club’s Awards

The first 5 companies classified on the basis of the number of arrivals (of the competitive test) who have reached the finish line will be awarded, with a minimum of 30 participants. The sum of the athletes who have reached the finish line will determine the final classification.
Only and exclusively sports associations that have actively participated in the event by sending their own list of members will be able to access the club prizes.
The company bonuses are divided as follows:

V. Classified € 100.00
VI. Classified € 50.00

The relative cash prizes will be delivered within 90 days from the date of the event.

20 - Elite prize money

Prizes will be awarded to the first 3 men and the first 3 women at the finish line of the competitive race with the following cash prizes:

Prize money will be paid out within 90 days from the date of the event. Real Time will be taken into account for the awarding of prize money. No prize money (or similar: generic value vouchers, bonuses, wages, reimbursement of expenses of any kind and for any reason whatsoever) may be provided for athletes in the Beginners, Juniors, Cadets, Pupils categories, for "Runcard" and "Runcard EPS" holders.

22 - Race course 5Km

23 - Refreshments

There will be two refreshments for both the competitive and non-competitive 10 km race: an intermediate one at the 5th km and a final one at the finish line. A refreshment point at the finish line is provided for the 5 km race. 

24 - Deposit Bags and Changing Rooms

There will be designated stands at the Atleticom We Run Rome village, where you can leave your personal belongings. We recommend that you do not deposit valuables in them. Two changing rooms will be also available, one for men and one for women.

25 - Health Service

Sanitary facilities will be set up along the entire race route and at the finish line.

26 - Privacy policy

Personal data, the provision of which is compulsory for the purposes of registration to Atleticom We Run Rome, shall be processed pursuant to and in accordance with the provisions of art. 13 of the European Regulation 2016/679 on the protection of personal data ("GDPR") and of the National Privacy Policy.  The same data indicated at the time of registration will be used to prepare the list of participants, the rankings, for historical archives, to carry out the services declared in the regulations and to send information material from Atleticom We Run Rome or its partners. At any time, the person concerned may consult, modify, delete his/her data free of charge by writing to the person in charge of personal data processing at Atleticom ASD, Piazza Giacomo Matteotti 4, 00010 Montelibretti (RM).

27 - Image Rights

By registering for the Atleticom We Run Rome, the athlete expressly authorises the Organising Committee, sponsors, third parties working on his behalf and media partners to use the still or moving images that may depict him/her during his/her participation in the race, on all supports, including promotional and/or advertising materials, all over the world and for the maximum time foreseen by the laws, regulations and treaties in force, including any possible extension that may be made to the foreseen period.

28 - Timekeeping and Classifications

The timekeeping service and the processing of the rankings will be provided by an external company and they will be validated by the Technical Delegate Judge/Appellate Judge. The chip will be disposable and therefore will not be returned at the end of the race.

29 - Complaints

Any complaints must be made in accordance with the FIDAL regulations and the R.T.I.

30 - Unforeseen impossibility

In the event of cancellation and/or postponement of the race to another date, or in any case, if the race is not held due to causes or reasons not related to the will of the Organisation, including revocation of the authorisation to hold the race by the competent Public Bodies, the participant shall have no right to claim from Atleticom ASD and/or Atleticom srl either for the refund of the amount paid for the registration, nor for the reimbursement of any expenses incurred or to be incurred.

The registration has the value of acceptance of this clause and as an express waiver of any claim resulting from the cancellation and/or postponement of the race, whether relating to compensation for any damages incurred or to be incurred and/or for indemnities and/or for any other reintegrative and/or satisfactory claim for any pecuniary or non-pecuniary prejudice suffered or to be suffered. In the event of impossibility of organising the event, the registrations already made and paid for shall be valid automatically and free of charge on the date of recovery. It will not be possible to request a refund of the fee under any circumstances.

31 - Exemption from Responsibility

By registering for the We Run Rome, the participant accepts the present regulations in every part and expressly declares that he/she assumes all the risks deriving from participation in the event, such as, purely by way of example, eventual falls, contact with vehicles and/or with other participants, spectators or others, adverse weather conditions, road surface conditions, and any other type of risk. As a consequence of this acceptance, the organising body and the individuals involved in the organisation of the sports event are expressly exonerated from any liability for any damage or harm resulting from participation in the event.

32 - Final Warnings

The Organising Committee reserves the right, also with the authorisation of the CR Lazio and the FIDAL Nazionale, to modify the present regulations at any time for reasons it deems appropriate for a better organisation of the race.

For anything not provided for in these regulations, the technical statutory regulations of the FIDAL Judge Commission will apply. Any changes to services, venues and times will be duly communicated to registered athletes via the event website www.werunrome.com or via the official Facebook page.
